Yeah. The old IMDb still stands out as the best of these forums imo. I'm limited in what I post about, but it didn't matter because the message boards were usually very active. I haven't been to a website of equal user interest since, and the same can even be said to a lesser extent about IMDb2 after the website shutdown briefly earlier this year.

I don't. I much prefer the available functions on subsequent sites I've used where pictures and videos can be shared to enhance arts topics (and others).

I was about to say that I don't miss the trolling...but I must admit that every once in a while, it could be stimulating. It was just when it became vicious/malicious--often via the posts of rabid Star Warriors or -Trekkers (disclaimer: I am a fan of both universes)--that the times got a wee bit too lively for my tastes. ;)

The way I see it, the trolling got personal and then people became way too old for all that infantile, malignant, shit-stain behaviour being meted out at will without consequence by cowardly, anonymous, cliquey, sock-heavy, self-involved cunts.
The nice people are still free to post here, I'd imagine, be it here, there or everywhere ...

Why should you miss it, Jill when you have access to everything you need from the WEB to prove your point?
And, If you're interested in a movie/show all you have to do is Google it and the search results will most likely take you to Amazon.
If there is some kind of music you're interested in. Google it. The search results will take you to Amazon.

Well, you have places like Moviechat and Filmboards. Filmboards has a lot of trolls, but has sometimes archived old IMDb threads. moviechat.org/nm0000040/Stanley-KubrickBut it's not quite the same. I miss the old community feeling that the IMDb had when you discussed movies, especially those revolving around certain movie franchises like James Bond, Harry Potter and Jaws etc.Well said. Moviechat is OK but it has nowhere near the engagement or the sense of community that IMDB had. |
