He had a long career in acting and later directing, from juvenile delinquents to British satire comedies to International movies to directing Oscar nominated movies and back to acting again in later years, during the jurasic period.
He was a Cambridge born lad, his younger brother was David Attenborough of TV nature series.
He joined the Royal Air Force during World War II and served in the film unit, going on several bombing raids over Europe and filming the action from the rear gunner's position.
This year we celebrate his birthdate 100 years ago

He also managed to squeeze in being president of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), as well as life president of the Premier League club Chelsea.

Returning to acting with Jurrasic Park 1993 and it's sequel The Lost World: Jurassic Park 1997
