Basically all the same.
They have a device that allows them to go from one story to the next every week.
I love Star Trek, but I preferred Dan Dare in 2000AD.

I used to love Quantum Leap but if you actually analyse the episodes, they're seriously boring. You're basically watching a melodrama about an unhappy house wife in the mid 1950s. But because it starts and ends with time-travel you convinced yourself that it was exciting.
The rape episode was good though.

They beam down to the planet and get caught up in a prohibition era drama / a native american indian drama / a nazi era drama / a roman gladiator era drama / a cowboy era drama / a depression era drama. I think they did every genre in Star Trek and those were always a bit dull. But because they start on the ship and end on the ship, you think it's amazing space travel. Well I say parp.

At least an alien planet is sci-fi (to some extent). Every week on Quantum leap you were basically watching some group of dull nobodies deal with their insurance problems, their dad's arthritis, the bank's refusal to give a loan, a woman's struggle with the sexist boss.

Fair point (you finally made one). I haven't seen Quantum Leap since the early 90s when it was first on in the UK. I really liked it, but I don't remember any of the details of the stories.
