There is the original IMDb that we all came from now who owns the trademark Rights to the name? I have always wondered about that. How these two copy sites can get away using the OS name?

If I recall correctly it's to do with using all caps (IMDB instead of IMBb).

As far as I understand how copyright works, it is not infringement to use the same name if it's in a different area or field. As IMDb doesn't have a discussion board anymore, it kind of goes to figure.

They call it International Movie Discussion Boards (IMDB) instead of International Movie Database (IMDb). That way with all caps and no lower case 'b', they're safe.
This was all hashed out in 2017.

What’s your board called? IMDumB? LOL

Filmboards is a dot com, a for-profit business (theoretically). In 2017 back when their prior domain name resembled imdb's name, they were threatened with legal action by imdb's attorneys until they changed their name to filmboards.
imdb1 and v2 are not only simply pages owned by the entity doing business as ProBoards, but with names like imdb1.freeforums.net and imdb2.freeforums.net they could never be mistaken for imdb.com. Monkeys and JC own nothing. ProBoards, calling webpages of their own by these names (and PB is - as the owner - the one who names the pages by greenlighting them), is in essence doing little more than I am doing by typing imdb here repeatedly.
You could get a pet and name it imdb. Why would they care? You could take a Hanes T-shirt and write IMDb on it in Sharpie and you're fine, just don't try to sell the shirt nor license images of it.

I tried to create an AI picture of a dog wearing an IMDb T-shirt but soon gave up so this is what you get with “internet movie database dog”

Where did you find these?? So cute. It’s all done with AI. I might have to use the dog wearing a T-shirt idea for this evening’s doodle as that’s less work than hitting buttons till you get the right image.

It appears extremely advanced and technical, especially the headgear. I just wish the dog in the first pic didn't look so afraid and... earnest. 😟 Edit: Oh, yay!! Mine made the short list for an evening doodle idea. 😁 Stammerhead

How sweet is the lil earnest one? Okay, that applies to both photo'ed dog faces, really. Is it mandated now that all of England's dogs are part Corgi or some other little legged breed?

Still, I was holding out hope that this lil guy was yours, for real... the real parts of 'im, anywho.
