sales.mvp-courses.com/dss/There are a (very) few posters that are serious about studying the history around Abrahamic religions, here is a course ($50) on the Dead Sea Scrolls by recently retired James Tabor. If you aren't familiar with NT scholarly work, Dr Tabor is the real deal, one of the first to translate the scrolls into English and has spent decades studying and teaching about them. He has a youtube channel: www.youtube.com/@jamestaborvideos

Tabor was my department head when I was at UNCC. He’s a genuinely very warm person.

I watch a lot of Tabor's videos on YT.
I find the subject matter fascinating, but he does have a tendency to go off on tangents about himself -- talking about his trips to Jerusalem, past research and projects, flogging his books and online courses, etc.
Don't get me wrong, I still watch him, but mostly in small doses.

True. He has gone way out on a limb regarding the “James ossuary.” I’m not convinced the James church even existed, but his theory about the 1st c BC Jewish messianic movement as the template for the later Jesus movement is sound. It explains how he was quickly associated as the Apocalyptic Messiah modeled after the Suffering Servant in Isaiah the heretic Qumran community was reading. The first “Christian” congregations may have already been in existence in anticipation of this Messiah. Jesus came along and filled in the place. He may have been a part of the community himself and would’ve been well versed in the prophecies. Though miraculous, this Jewish messiah was still a human and would fulfill all the Messiah’s warrior deeds. The “Jesus as God” rising from the dead theology was probably tacked on by the Greeks and Romans as they became dominant in the early churches.

I don't agree with that. He has done that in videos made to promote his course on the Dead Sea Scrolls, where he is selling himself and the course, but he doesn't do it in most videos.
