Is there some specific legislation you want them to go to the mat for, or is this just to be vindictive? Singlepayer would be nice, but honestly neither party wants that at all. That's a good answer. Brilliant, actually. We should shut the federal government down for as long as it takes to implement universal government health care (which would take about a year to cobble together), and then everybody could feel comforted in the fact that they now have secure and reliable medical care...until the next random fight over short-term funding of the government, at which point everything will close again. I like it. Let's do this (or should we wait until The Oprah is president?) |

Well obviously not, you'd stalemate until there's an agreement to begin exploring it, not actually drafting legislation.
these shutdowns are almost always bicep flexing and games of bluff to see who blinks first.

Equal rights and abilities for all Americans right --- Republicans, Democrats, liberals, conservatives, etc? The Democrats are not shutting down the government. Obviously you haven't been paying attention to what is going on... Republicans are voting against Mitch McConnell's measure to keep government running until next week. Trump is shutting down government because he is not getting his border wall. That is to say that Donald Trump is using Chip as a bargaining chip to try to get his border wall.That means that children with cancer won't receive treatment because of Donald Trump and Steven Miller.  |
