Not the reboot I was expecting :P TEXT: “…A bombshell report from Variety has revealed that Marvel could be going back to the original six Avengers. According to the report, talks about a new movie with the original Avengers cast have happened, with the MCU's recent troubles leading to that possibility. The new Avengers film would reunite Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye. Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson's characters would be resurrected for the movie.“ screenrant.com/new-avengers-movie-robert-downey-jr-scarlett-johansson/

Pure panic. What a bunch of idiots. They’ve got Spidey, Dr Strange, Fantastic Four, Thor, Scarlett Witch, and many more. Just make a good Avengers movie and people will see it. Resurrected characters disconnected from their original arcs will be nothing more than hollow fan service.

Too little, too late.
Anything short of a reboot is a bad move.
My thoughts were that Avengers 5 should have been the priority after Endgame, with the Avengers team shown at the end of that film. But now, they’ve poisoned the well. Time to move on.
They should reboot with an X-Men film which takes place in a universe consistent with the Marvel Universe but not the MCU. So all of the heroes exist and the X-Men may interact with some of them.

There are alternate or variant versions of them, so with the multiverse being garbled up, due to Loki/Sylvie and Dr Strange’s actions, a reunion of sorts makes sense.

Even so, they need to stick with just a few newer characters making them more than a one-dimensional cartoon characters, rather than scatter-shot a lot of characters on screen for 10-minutes most non-comic readers don’t know or care about. Neither MCU nor DC should cater and please only to comic fans. There is not enough of them. And I do not give a shit about the so-called “canon” and errors against it. Marvel is not a religion, it’s a commodity.

But now that they’ve got actual household names like Spider-Man, Fantastic Four and X Men it’s time to bring back Iron Man? Doesn’t make a lot of sense. I do agree there’s too many characters now, many of them too niche or derivative to become popular. Case in point: a legacy Hawkeye and the daughter of Ant Man teaming up will excite literally nobody. I said that last month on here and somebody trolled me for it. Now, who was that? I forget…

They way things are going, maybe none of us will. So I’m enjoying it while I can. I just wish Loki could rewrite a lot of things.

Seems like a desperate move. They still have Thor, Hulk, Hawkeye, Spiderman, Dr. Strange, Vision, Antman, Wasp, Bucky, Falcon, maybe even Wanda.
Why not just utilize that group?

I wouldn't be surprised. Allegedly RDJ already signed on.
It actually would be better if they all came back but played evil versions of themselves.

Iron Man is back… but he’s an asshole variant who is maybe worse than Kang. Maybe the Steve Rogers variant is a Hydra agent. That’s how they should approach this- by being subversive and interesting.
