I much prefer The Hobbit ones - at least there's variety. If I ever recover from the coma the first three put me in, I might give them a look. However, for some reason, I have a low tolerance for most fantasy films. But tell exactly the same story with sci fi tropes instead and I'm fine. 8-| Maybe you don't like that it's one big, lore-filled world vs. the various and ever-changing worlds of something like Dr. Who or even Star Trek.

DOCTOR WHO and STAR TREK have both become big lore-filled worlds all by themselves... And from what I remember from my fleeting moments of consciousness while watching THE LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy, there seemed to be a reasonable amount of diversity in both characters and surroundings... I just find that, in general, I dislike fantasy and magic based stories... although there are a few remarkable exceptions.

Pretty much, but that makes them good making out movies. You don't really miss anything. I prefer the Star Trek movies myself. I don't think I've done that since I was a teenager! You haven't "made out" since you were a teenager? Why the heck not?! That's like the really good appetizer before the main course. And if you're chill on the couch that means you're both in comfy (easy petting) clothes, just add some good wine and a boring movie...the rule is you have to only "make out" while the movie is on. No moving things to the bedroom until it's over. Delayed gratification ;)

Who would take a hot date to Olive Garden?
Olive Garden is for old married couples like me and my wife.

Always the best option. Take them out of the equation.

If you got the never ending pasta you'd be remiss not to get some of that to go. Breadsticks are a given, but pasta really is a must. You need good carbs for any kind of sword and sandals fuckery I'd think. But it's not never ending after you take it out of the restaurant. And their breadsticks can last at least a month in the open. It's better than that lame ass hobbit bread. You're going on an epic quest and you're worried about restaurant etiquette regarding doggie bags?? FFS, tell them to pack you a bowl of pasta AND a bottle of wine. You don't want to get stuck drinking mead.

How about that General Hospital fellow from TV? Yeah, and if he's unavailable, ask at the post office for General Delivery. I hear a lot of good things about General Quarters, he's all about change.

I see a lot of criticism of Selfie's choice and not a lot of recommendations. I would be delighted with Olive Garden (not that I'm a hot date or anything), especially with what dining out costs now. Really though, I'm super impressed with men who can cook, so if he makes me dinner, even better.

Admittedly I haven't been on a first date since the early 1990's but I'd opt for something locally owned over a chain every day of the week.

There's a Lebanese place that's my absolute fave. If I was going to take a guy somewhere, it would be there (unless he told me he absolutely hates ME food, but this place has a HUGE menu with something for everyone). But I think chains are fine. And a lot of them aren't cheap. Cheesecake Factory costs a fortune.
