“Now I’m what’s called chief creative officer of Lucasfilm,” Filoni tells Vanity Fair, which places him into the development process much earlier and in a much more expansive capacity than his previous advisory duties. “In the past, in a lot of projects I would be brought into it, I would see it after it had already developed a good ways.”

Great. More Ahsoka, obsession with Clone Wars era and characters, and "poor Anakin" shit. When I was a kid, Vader was a villain. And he sure as shit never had an apprentice.

This was probably planned before the release of Ahsoka.
Disney being Disney, they live in their own fantasy world where everyone loved Ahsoka.
Seriously, this is a dumb move. Ahsoka was a horrible series with infantile plotting. Why would we want more of that?
The Rey movie will be Star Wars’ worst at the box office.

Well I guess it comes down to this: would you rather have more Ahsoka or would you rather have more Rey? Because as it is the future of Star Wars under Disney is (undoubtedly) going to feature a prominent female protagonist. So who would you rather see in that slot? Rey or Ahsoka? Consider this also. Some fans want to reject anything from the Star Wars “cartoon” universe. But the writing has been full of highs and lows. Some good writing showed up in the cartoons. And good writing showed up in the the first few seasons of the Mandalorian. While the movies were horribly written! Those movies were totally carried by the look and feel of the original trilogy and generally good action pacing. Beyond that they were pretty bad. And Disney knows it. That’s why they’re scared to make another movie. That’s why they’ve already canceled close to a dozen movie ideas or projects. Anything outside of Filoni, they hand the movie/show over to some pop culture filmmaker (including the writing). Then they start getting script drafts back. They realize how much it sucks, then we get another info or press leak that it has stalled or been cancelled. So pick your poison. Filoni may be a mixed bag, occasionally too fixated on his animated characters. But be careful what you wish for. It could easily be worse.

Filoni has built his entire world around those characters. He shoehorns them into everything (no matter how little sense it makes). Even Mando has succumbed to that.
It's not a choice between Ahsoka and Rey. Both will exist.

I don't even like Ahsoka, but it was a successful and popular show.
