Just sharing a little slice of American pop culture you may not be aware of.
If I was there I probably would have tossed a record into the bin! LOL

Almost as cool as when they threw Beatles records on the fire.

Disco isn't the best music.

Disco got bad when every mainstream act from Barbra Streisand to Rod Stewart did a disco album. The early more techno stuff was great. But disco quickly jumped the shark, like all music styles.

Disco isn't the best music. Neither is prog rock but disco fans were too busy dancing to care.

LOL Seem to recall that some American DJ started that anti Disco movement, bad as it was it had to be better than listening to the God awful easy listening shite of Eagles, Poco, and those other fake California bands that polluted the US airwaves and charts back then. Donna Summer's imperious 12 minute version of I Feel Love on its own rescues the whole genre for me although it's German/Italian at heart.

There was a lot more going on outside mainstream disco (which still contained plenty of good stuff) but how it appeals to the personal ear is simply down to liking it or not. Same with stuff like the Eagles who mostly bored me but still had some good tunes. I’d switch between dancing at the local club (the Lacy Lady) to bopping along with bands during the late 70s early 80s without actually identifying with either scene.

I couldnt dance to save my life, preferred Northern Soul tunes more if I had to attempt it.
