We finally got some cold weather down here in Southern Louisiana. 40s with wind chills in the 30s. 50s with wind chills in the 40s for below Lake Ponchatrain.
I just got new double paned insulated windows. Much warmer in my home than before with the old single paned windows.
How about where you live?

32F here just now in West Lothian, Scotland. 3pm. It's windy here. Looks like it's humid there. That makes the cold more painful.

37 F in London. Little wind but a fine drizzle. Everyone on the allotment is having a burn up and the entire site is covered in banks of white smoke. Very jolly and Christmassy

It's been about 5F/-15C here for the past days, and it's currently the same. Supposed to become slightly milder tomorrow, and 34F/1C on Friday.

Typical winter temperature where I live is 19F/21F or -6C/-7C. In some select years it got extremely cold, like 1986/87 and in 2010 when there was a wind from Siberia making its way here. In the far north and the northeast, one would be used to very severe winters; it can get down to -22F/-30C. That's why most people opt to not live there.

Growing up in New Orleans, I'm used to summers in the 80s and 90s. And winters where the temperature fluctuates between 40 and 70 (degrees Fahrenheit).

There's a bit of a folktale that in the North, the homeless commit crimes to get locked up over the winters. I'd believe that, though. My hands crackle and sore from the cold when winter comes. If I lived in any colder climate than this, I don't want to imagine even going out at all.
