Betting: City: 1/8 Flu: 6/1 So City about 86%, Flu 14%. Flu probably worth a bet. City can’t win a game in the league. I hope you didn't put any money on Fluminense winning. City ahead within the very first minute!

No! Didn't even know the final wad being played today! It's on some obscure streaming service here so can't see it. Not sure I'd have bothered if it was free to view.

Did you watch it? Think it was a record winning margin.

Did you watch it? Think it was a record winning margin. No, I didn’t watch it. It was the middle of the work day for me, and I am not sure it was shown on any channel that is available to me anyway. Whenever City comes up I remember that Irish (?) poster who was a big City fan back in the day when City never won anything. Didn’t you butt heads with him often? Or am I thinking of someone else?

Yeah, Kambei Shimada! He always did a brief match report of games when City won, so naturally every time they lost, the second the final whistle went, I would post “Match report, Kam … where is it?!” He never seemed to find it funny!

Well, father jack never was a city fan but it could definitely have been some other poster.
I am having issues with European club football. At this point of time, I have much more respect for American club sports. While their main flaw is no promotions and relegation, they are still far more competitive than European leagues in which 2 or 3 team dominates for eternity. Over every 20 year cycle you are likely to see 8-10 champions in NBA, NFL and MLB. In soccer leagues like Spain and Italy same 2 or 3 teams contend every year.

I suppose that’s down to the draft system over there. I hate basketball. Wouldn’t watch it if you paid me. Dreadful stuff. The other two are tolerable.

European club football is of no interest to me, largely because of what you said - how a few leagues and a handful of teams in those leagues concentrate all the best players. As I have said before, I would much rather watch Japan vs Senegal in the group stages of the World Cup than a Champions League final between Manchester City and Real Madrid.

Utterly pointless competition for Champions League winners, just send them the cup and save the money.

Utterly pointless competition for Champions League winners, just send them the cup and save the money. Brazilian clubs won the first three finals after they changed the format in 2000. Since then European clubs have triumphed in 16 of the 17 tournaments! (half of those 16 winners were Spanish.)
