Lennox Lewis thinks so. He may be biased though.
Fury was leading on points but he got knocked down twice and the second knockdown was a nine count.
A controversial draw with Deontay Wilder. Because it was a draw Wilder is still the champion.
Lewis may be biased because it was an Englishman vs. an American and Lennox was robbed in his fight with Evander Holyfield years ago. There is absolutely no doubt- Lennox won that fight. He won in a rematch.
The British judge scored it 113-113. A draw. The 2 others split so it was a draw.
I've heard it was the best heavyweight title fight in many years. I haven't seen it yet.
The sport seems to have changed. Before Lennox Lewis there had never been a champion of any stature taller than 6'3". Then 6'5" Lennox Lewis came along. One of the greatest heavyweight boxers ever. After him the Klitschko brothers.
Now Wilder 6'7" and Fury 6'9".
I wonder how a peak Mike Tyson (5'10") would do against one of these tall boxers. He was way past his prime when he fought Lewis. Prison plus the fact that he peaked at a young age. He was not in peak form when he fought Lennox Lewis.
There will almost certainly be a Wilder vs. Fury rematch.

I was just going to ask how Tyson would fare these days. That guy was a monster, a neck so thick you couldn't make any impact on his head.
I don't follow boxing these days, mainly because it's on pay channels. Watched it when I was a child, back when it was still Muhammed Ali and Joe Frazier.

You have to do something exceptional to get a points decision against an American fighter in the US. Just the way it is and been going on for years. Also "aggression" has always been judged more heavily in the US than elsewhere, so he was never going to win after going down twice unless he won by stopping the fight.
