If God can tell a woman "nope, you cannot have this baby" & end the pregnancy, why can't the woman make the same decision? There's a passage in the bible in which a dude is encouraged by God to give a woman a mixture that will abort her baby, so we know Yahweh is pro-abortion. Not that this will ever matter to the God-nuts. It was never about morality or religion, and only about controlling women's bodies. |

I made it clear that I am "proud" that we took the time to make the sensible, mature, dependent decision rather than decide based on supernatural beliefs or to take a life of Government support. It was a tough choice and agonised over, but it was the right one and I am proud we took it. We have never regretted it and luckily we live in a sane country where adults get to make adult decisions without the State dictating what they can or cant do with their own bodies. Why the US has decided to let religion take precedence over people's freedoms is something that wont end well.
I can respect that. It's better than bringing unwanted kids into the world, imho.
I'm not so sure it's entirely a religious thing anymore. But what happened was our court (rightly imo) said it was supposed to be a State's issue all this time. We have 50 different states........each with their own people and ways to approach things. If some come up with better methods, others can mimic them. Or choose to stick with what works for them. THAT is part of the consideration adults should be taking into account when they are choosing where to live........ just as they make choices about pregnancies.

If it's NOT religion then it's even worse as there's no real logical reason, they are purely making the laws based on a political position and what they think must go along with that hard right political stance. The religious may be mad as a box of frogs, but at least they have some kind of warped logic behind why they believe in it. |

The logical reason that I've suggested comes from my own observations of friends, who are not religious.......but had children and saw ultrasounds of those children from early on in the pregnancy. THAT changes some peoples' opinions on abortion.
Now I'm a bit more petty.........I'm OK with abortion, I just suspect my Govt has been laundering money thru Planned Parenthood, so I'm against their funding. Just as I am against many other handouts and forms of welfare.

It's such a pity as I would think that the US is crying out for serious discussion on this issue rather than the level of the moronic "murderer" shouts. My wife and I chose a termination when she fell accidentally pregnant, we did the sensible logical thing, we couldnt afford to proceed with a second child due to housing reasons at the time and didnt want to fall into a cycle of benefits dependency it would have been very difficult to escape. I’ve always marvelled at “accidental pregnancy,” like a woman was walking down the sidewalk and got hit by a baby. Was a failure of contraception, rare but it happens, only ever happened once but there is the fact of it. I get the feeling from your posting history though that if a woman was gang raped you'd still insist on her being forced to give birth. By all means please quote me.
