According to arts legend, Broadway soprano Elaine Paige of the disputed territory of Barnet (Middlesex, Hertfordshire & Greatest London) struggled to get a lead role in musical theatre for years as she was considered too short, at 4'11", to see, at least for punters consigned to the cheap seats. It was a far cry from her days spent in 'Hair'.

Though it's been suggested at times she was touching the big 5'0", it was Andrew Lloyd Webber who matched her up with superstar David Essex to set a new high bar within the English theatre of music. Amazing lady, amazing voice.
