Arbroath only had 4 substitutes on the bench at the start (partly small squad size and a run of injuries) and injuries during the game required the 3 outfield subs to be used by the 55th minute so there was no alternative to putting the sub keeper on.
Looking down and out against top of the table Raith and with just one regular defender left, Ali Adam’s wonderstrike against the league leaders sparked our unexpected revival, and we equalised soon after. Not bad for the only part-time team in the league.
Whether we can field a side on Tuesday against the league favourites Dundee Utd is a moot point. We’ve shipped 10 goals without reply in 2 games against them this season. But the spirit and character are there. Fascinating league.
