You'd think since salvation from a guaranteed trip to an infinite amount of pain for infinity because of Adam and his rib woman's fall from grace in a magical garden is the whole point of Christianity, the good men of God could all get on the same page. Yeah, one would think that. Then there is the conundrum of the Crucifixion, when Jesus tells the prisoner on the cross next to him, that "today thou shalt be with me in Paradise". But Jesus did other stuff for the time before he was resurrected from the dead. How does that work? Inconsistencies... religion's Achilles tendon. And the final nail? It's all speculative. You've made quite a number of religious posts after telling me there is no point in discussing the same thing. I think you were just avoiding alternative points of view. No need to reply, I just wanted you to know I noticed.

Modern Christianity is divided on the issue. The brand of Protestantism I grew up in taught that souls go to heaven or hell immediately at death. I'm not well versed in Jewish beliefs but in Jesus' time Jews would have believed that you just die and cease to exist. They had a word for the "afterlife," Sheol, that translates loosely to "grave." Everyone went to Sheol unless God took you physically to Heaven. Greeks interpreted Sheol as Hades, and that's where the "modern" Christian idea comes from. In the OT, people who went to heaven were physically taken by God. People will quote the NT to prove Hell is a real place not knowing they are quoting a Greek misinterpretation of Jewish beliefs. So the subject can get a bit messy the more you know about it. You'd think since salvation from a guaranteed trip to an infinite amount of pain for infinity because of Adam and his rib woman's fall from grace in a magical garden is the whole point of Christianity, the good men of God could all get on the same page. As you know well, the NT is full of contradictions and contrary beliefs. It says something about humans that our most popular world religions are an incoherent mess interpreted many different ways.

Jesus had a pretty poor batting average for a prophet. Recall that he himself said that none but God knew the time of the Second Coming; not even Jesus would know the exact time. Yet Jesus also told the crowd that at least some of them would be around to witness his return...and he made the definite prophecy that he would return before the end of the first century AD. He was wrong about that, and also contradicted himself into the bargain.

"You are anonymous on a forum, no one cares what you have studied, only what you can articulate intelligently, and saying you "disagree," and can't be bothered is a lazy response." "Your only value is the ability to hold an interesting conversation, and you seem unwilling or unable. I won't waste any more of time." You have also been snotty to @papalegba , who told you to "Continue with your selective outrage".

Except when they dream about hell. Those people are going to Hell and have to sleep on the floor. And eat holiday dinners at the kid's table.
