British actor John Savident has left us at the age of 86, on February 21st.  Known for his numerous television roles, including his portrayal of Fred Elliott in the soap opera Coronation Street from 1994 to 2006. He was also known for his performance as Monsieur Firmin in the West End cast of The Phantom of the Opera. His other credits included The Avengers (1968), A Clockwork Orange (1971), The Professionals (1978), Blake's 7 (1979), Yes Minister (1980), Gandhi (1982), The Remains of the Day (1993) and Middlemarch (1994). R.I.P, comedian Richard Lewis at the age of 76. I thought his sitcom Anything But Love didn't get the success it deserved. The master of neurotic mania, there was truly no one like him.  Lewis in Eugene Levy's zany whodunnit/caper film Once Upon a Crime from 1992 , leading a cast of farceurs including John Candy, James Belushi, Cybill Shepherd, Sean Young, George Hamilton and Giancarlo Giannini. American actor Charles Dierkop has left us at the age of 87, on February 25th.  Best known in supporting roles and his characteristic broken nose. He was cast in two George Roy Hill films, and played an outlaw both times — as "Flat Nose Curry" in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid 1969, he played a member of the Hole in the Wall Gang, and as "Floyd" in The Sting 1973, he acted as a bodyguard with Lee Paul to Robert Shaw's New York gangster/griftee, Doyle Lonnegan. He is best known for playing Detective Pete Royster on the television series Police Woman between 1974 and 1978. He was a lifetime member of the Actors Studio. Italian director Paolo Taviani has left us at the age of 92, on February 29th.  With his brother Vittorio Taviani (1929 – 2018) they were collectively referred to as the Taviani brothers. At the Cannes Film Festival, the Taviani brothers won the Palme d'Or and the FIPRESCI prize for Padre Padrone in 1977 and the Grand Prix du Jury for La notte di San Lorenzo ( The Night of the Shooting Stars, 1982). In 2012 they won the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival with Caesar Must Die. Other movies included The Subversives (1967), Under the Sign of Scorpio (1969), Kaos (1984), Good Morning, Babylon (1987), Fiorile (1993), The Elective Affinities (1996), The Lark Farm (2007) and Wondrous Boccaccio (2015).
