German actress Johanna von Koczian has left us at the age of 90, on February 13th.


She had her first film role in the 1957 film Victor and Victoria, and her breakthrough a year later in Wir Wunderkinder which earned her a German Film Award. She was named "the German Audrey Hepburn" then. She appeared in many films, also on television, became popular again as a singer with the 1977 hit "Das bißchen Haushalt", presented television series and authored books for children and youths. She returned to the stage for comedies such as Glorious!, performed with great success in Berlin in 2010.

Her film appearances included the spy spoof Matchless (1968, co-starring Patrick O'Neal), I Killed Rasputin (1967), Dead Run (1967, co-starring Peter Lawford), Negresco (1968), The Vatican Affair (1968), The Battle of El Alamein (1969), Five Dolls for an August Moon (1970), No desearás al vecino del quinto (1970), and The Fifth Cord (1971).

French actress Micheline Presle has left us at the age of 101, on February 21st.


Starting her career in 1937, she starred in over 50 films, appearing firstly in productions in her native France and also in Hollywood during the era of Classical Hollywood Cinema. Subsequently she returned to French films from the mid-1960s until 2014.
Her rise to European stardom, in films such as Devil in the Flesh (1947), led to offers in Hollywood.
Other movies include Under My Skin 1950, American Guerrilla in the Philippines 1951, The Lady of the Camellias 1953, House of Ricordi 1954, The Bride Is Much Too Beautiful 1956, Blind Date 1959, Le Diable et les Dix Commandements 1962, If a Man Answers 1962, The Prize 1963, King of Hearts 1966, Peau d'Âne 1970, Clochemerle 1972, Les Misérables 1995, A Man and His Dog 2009 and many more.
