Tyrone Power began production on Solomon and Sheba (1959). Halfway through shooting, he suffered a heart attack during a dueling scene with George Sanders and died before reaching a hospital.

Wood Jr. filmed random footage of Lugosi with no plot in mind. After his death, Wood wrote the film's screenplay, incorporating the footage into it (as this was also accurately depicted in the biopic Ed Wood (1994))."
