PERFECT DAYS is about a kind and introverted toilet cleaner named Hirayama. Even for what's mainly an exploration of a person's daily routines, the plot is so repetitive that it doesn't feel like it's worth sitting through it just to get to the deep and even tender moments, of which there's a significant amount. Kōji Yakusho's performance is great, but all the female characters are badly written and the comic relief (a guy named Takashi) is annoying.
5/10

It's so understated that it feels a little low in content. I love slow cinema but this isn't contemplative enough. I'd give it a 7/10 as the performance, soundtrack and images make up for it. But can totally understand why someone would find it laborious.
