It's a living museum. The building itself has some memorabilia - postcards with old photos, etc. - for sale, but the site is largely used as the meeting place for tours of the Lower East Side.

I'd like to go, I know all of my ancestors were there a century ago, in NYC or Philly.

Probably unrealistically clean. Think of all the kids they raised in those little places! They mostly used coal and oil to heat and cook with. Plus the grime of city flowing in through those shotgunned apartments. They had illegal back tenements where the slum lords built shacks in the alleys behind the tenement buildings. And a lot of immigrants worked out of their homes sewing, shoemaking, and other hand labor. They didn’t have it easy.

I'd like to go, I know all of my ancestors were there a century ago, in NYC or Philly. Yeah mine too brah! Although in my case it was my grandparents! They didn't even speak English brah!! Or proper Italian!!
