How did the paper keep from burning up? From what I've read (in a previous article), the letter burnt up at the conclusion of the story.

And this missive was authenticated how, exactly? Wait...let me guess. By 'church authorities' no doubt. Well, that seals the reality of it for me.

And this missive was authenticated how, exactly? Wait...let me guess. By 'church authorities' no doubt. Well, that seals the reality of it for me. As are all things posted here by 'clueless', nothing is observable, testable, repeatable... y'know, empirical evidence. The medieval superstition of demons and evil spirits is deeply imbedded in Christianity, though the mainline contemporary churches have purged most of it out. The Fundamentalists churches with their roots in charismatic revival, have continued to use it as its main selling point: that is, the deep fear of a burning Hell and Satan forces in our everyday lives causing the good Christians to fall from grace…usually with a sex sin. Hollywood hasn’t helped by feeding the audience’s fascination with the occult, macabre and demonic possession. And then there is the fundamentalist superstition industry which has commoditized demons and angels and End Times prophecy. This superstition among the irrational, fundamentalist Christians has led to numerous Satanic Panics such as the Daycare crusades of the 1990s. See the McMartin or Little Rascals cases. The churches encouraging Satanic Panic, from the medieval period until today, have caused untold damage and suffering to the human race. The superstition is currently driving political discourse in the USA inside the Trump Cult and these people do not play nice. The letter man, I daresay, is just another grifter feeding off gullible Christians’ superstition and hate.
