for a bike/mountain bike? Just asking. I wouldn't. At the most. I'd go 400-dollars. Then I'd modify it to suit me.

The way I see it is that it’s all down to an individual’s wealth and some folk have to spend all that money somehow.

The difference between one bike and another comes down to the weight and there is rarely that much difference.
Folk tend to rush out and buy expensive bikes in the summer and abandon them in the winter, which means that most of my bikes have come out of skips.

However, if it was something I only did on a casual basis, if and when I could be bothered, probably not. There is nothing unusual about people investing more time, effort and cash into what is important to them.

Does anyone know how one would go about buying wholesale bikes and bike parts? Googles wasn't much help.
On a side note there was a Youtube video where a guy spent 13000-dollars to build a titanium bike.

Maybe go to or call a couple of bike shops and ask for some advice (speak to the manager even). They might be in the know but they also might try to sell you a bike haha. Ebay, Amazon etc

I don't see it. Not unless it was virtually indestructible and had some crazy ass DNA thumb-print lock or something. Cause if a bike of mine that expensive gets stolen, I am chasing you to Mars to get it back. I'll be tailgating you in a spaceship.

Get a stationary bike and use your fertile and vivid imagination to pretend you are riding through the mountains.
And maybe a VR headset as an optional add-on if your Plain Jane natural brain imagination is not enough.
But only if you are willing to shell out the extra cash for the VR headset.
Otherwise, just stick with the stationary bike and your mind's eye.

Yes and here's why. I started riding everyday 7 or 8 years ago. I got hooked. I was buying those 100-200 dollar bikes at wal-mart. They would keep nickle and dime-ing me to death. So I went to a real bike shop and paid over $800 for a new bike. Money well spent. After thousands and thousands of miles the only repair I had to do was get a new set of new tires. When this bike finally does wear out I am getting the same one. With inflation it will probably be over $1000 and I will gladly pay it. When it comes to bikes you get what you pay for. Here is the exact bike I got. Its lightweight, well built and shifts great.
