Author Arnold Lobel's daughter suggested that there was indeed a gay subtext to the ambhibians' relationship. She stated that it was his way of coming out to his family in the 1970s; he would later divorce his wife and begin a same-sex relationship himself. If the Moms for Liberty crowd doesn't like this, they can go eat flies.
From what I've heard, some of their members eat plenty of other things

This book has been in public libraries and school libraries for 35 years now. It was at every library in the Phoenix Public Library where I worked as well as the children's libraries in the very conservative Central Oregon. A few places around the country have banned it or tried to ban it.
And?
Do not conflate public libraries with school libraries. It only muddies this argument.
If/When a child wants to learn about 2 Mommies or 2 Daddies, they can ask their parents and go get that book at the public library or off of Amazon. No problem.
Yeah. Thats the one they read to my then 3 or 4 yr.old who announced to me "Sometimes boys marry boys & sometimes girls marry girls & sometimes boys marry girls". A private daycare/kindergarten I was paying for. Not public. The one that kept reporting me for abusing my child because they couldn't understand what.my kid was saying. And where my kid got chickenpox from twins who's lawyer mom put them in daycare because she couldnt miss work.

So you should have objected.......and maybe found another daycare.
Chickenpox isn't that big a deal. We used to have parties to get it. Unlike measles or whooping cough, anyway

Chickenpox isn't that big a deal. We used to have parties to get it. ... "Most people who had chickenpox in their childhood thought they had already seen the worst of it; after all, once a person has had the very contagious and uncomfortable condition caused by the varicella-zoster virus they won’t get it again unless they develop problems with their immune system. But now for the sobering fact: the varicella virus remains dormant in the nervous system and can surface later in life as shingles. “ You cannot get shingles if you have not been infected by the chickenpox virus,” says Dr. Oliveros. “While a typical shingles episode lasts an average of ten days, some people who have shingles develop a condition called post herpetic neuralgia, which is a persistent pain in the area of the rash even after it has cleared up. This may last for months and, in rare cases, years. Fortunately, medications are available that can both shorten the duration of the painful rash and decrease the likelihood of post herpetic neuralgia if administered promptly.” www.nyp.org/patients-and-visitors/advances-consumers/issues/understanding-the-connection-between-chickenpox-and-shingles

I am proud to say while there is a list of some 3000 books on the national ban list, Virginia only banned 300 on said list.
2700/3000 = 90%
That's still an A in my book.

For the concerned fasci...I mean parents who rail against LGBT+ characters in children's books: Are you at all aware that elementary school kids have been reading a popular series of books about a gay couple for several decades now? I guess the problem is when the books get too explicit for young children. Thanks for pointing that out!

I also know of another book called "Daddy's roommate", which is also a target of homophobes for book bannings. However, I doubt the OP was referring to either of them, and I have never heard of "Frog and Toad".

That's because it's olde and not nearly as progressive as the works of Harry Woodgate

While there is a German translation available, it doesn't even have a German Wikipedia page.

How's the Common Core Math working for you?

We don't have Common Core. We have Bildungsstandards.

I can't say I've ever heard of the series. Not even when my kid was going through school. I've heard of TOAD OF TOAD HALL, but that's about it.

Yeah. My kid doesn't even remember. Had like 6 pox total. My husband was COVERED & miserable. My mother-in-law kept waiting for me to get it. Nope, my aunt made sure we had all those. Sent the boys over to play when they had it.
