I enjoyed GEORGE GENTLY, NEW TRICKS, MIDSUMMER MURDERS and INSPECTOR MORSE. CRACKER: "I drink too much, I smoke too much, I gamble too much. I am too much." Absolutely brilliant TV show. Ever see WIRE IN THE BLOOD? No, I never watched Wire in the Blood. I saw the latest episode of Vera last night. It was OK. Only the second or third episode I’ve ever seen. She’s a bit of a pain though!

I liked Gently because it was not a "flashy" show ... they had a case and got on with solving it without a lot of running around or chatter. Also like the several versions of Maigret stories and, when in the mood for "murder light", the old and the new Father Brown. Yah ... Morse and Lewis and can't forget Frost. Just realized his name is "Jack" !!! Watched a couple of Crackers to see "Hagred" sans beard ... started one last night and had to turn it off ...too gory. I think it will go off the rotation. edit ..I wrote about Cracker before seeing your edit ! gmta passing in the night ! edit edit ..yes on Bergerac... have seen the first few of them. New Tricks is worth seeing in sequence because the storylines sort of continue with jokes that refer to earlier stories but not ina major way. Never watched Frost .. not really a David Jason fan. He’s no John Thaw! The latest series of Father Brown started a week ago. I enjoy it even if it is a bit twee. I miss Mrs McCarthy though!

The trouble is catching them when they are actually broadcast... although I've been able to catch up on quite a few through ABC Iview.

I like David Jason, but more in TV shows like PORRIDGE and OPEN ALL HOURS. I can't really see him doing a John Thaw... ;)

Frost is the only thing I have ever seen David Jason in and I like the Frost character. He's not quite as mean tempered as Morse who tends to belittle Lewis un-necessarily. Funny about Mrs McC ..she is the character I actually disliked on the new Father Brown. Sorcha Cusack turned up on one of the olde mystery shows and was quite tolerable ! It's interesting seeing all the really high quality Brit character actors showing up in the cops and robbers shows and having to mentally cross reference where you just saw them ... IMDb helps with that !

Shetland is another good series. Takes a bit of commitment to watch all six episodes. I caught up and binged on a season at a time, watched over maybe two or three nights. I really liked the way they wrote out Jimmy Perez. It was odd him not being in the new episodes this year.

I really like Tosh and was hoping she ould take over the reins .... Jensen may grow on us, but she seems to have dragged in to make more of the personal connections which there are too many of already.

They forgot John Steed and Emma Peel! Inexcusable.
