Mulder and Scully were not really a crime fighting duo.
They should be replaced with Holmes and Yoyo, which should be number 1.

Thanks to having BBC on the Roku TV, I have seen many of the Brit cop shows and like many of them better than the U.S. varieties. Seeing old and young Dennis Waterman, Martin Shaw and John Thaw in various shows has been fun.

You can't go past the likes of THE SWEENEY, THE PROFESSIONALS, DALZIEL AND PASCOE, just to name a few.
If you're going to include SHERLOCK HOLMES, at least get a decent version, like the one that featured Jeremy Brett.

Liked George Gently but his young assistant needed a swift kick !
Just starting "the Sweeney" but it has not grown me yet. Looked at it to see the young Dennis Waterman who was familiar from New Tricks. Have watched all of them a couple of times.
Inspecter Linley is good too. Not as bloody or complicated as some. The relationship between him and Havers is not the standard fare so that's good.
Midsomer Murders .. the Tom era ... = aces !!! The ones with his cousin not so much what with the little cutesy daughter and such interspersed in the tales.

Lewis and Endeavour v. good too. Haven’t seen New Tricks and very little of Midsommer Murders. John Nettles of MM fame can be seen in an earlier show called Bergerac ..where he plays a detective on the island of Jersey. Cracker was a good show too.

I liked Gently because it was not a "flashy" show ... they had a case and got on with solving it without a lot of running around or chatter.
Also like the several versions of Maigret stories and, when in the mood for "murder light", the old and the new Father Brown.
Yah ... Morse and Lewis and can't forget Frost. Just realized his name is "Jack" !!!
Watched a couple of Crackers to see "Hagred" sans beard ... started one last night and had to turn it off ...too gory. I think it will go off the rotation.
edit ..I wrote about Cracker before seeing your edit ! gmta passing in the night !
edit edit ..yes on Bergerac... have seen the first few of them.
New Tricks is worth seeing in sequence because the storylines sort of continue with jokes that refer to earlier stories but not ina major way.

Ever see WIRE IN THE BLOOD?

Holy Oversight! No Batman and Robin 1966? The thought had occurred to me, but fortunately I was able to resist the temptation to mention them... ;)
