I'm very much enjoying Sarah Perry's "The Essex Serpent" at the moment, but the best thing I've read this year by a country mile is Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian.
Any one else with recommendations?
An interesting biography was Tara Westover's "Educated" about escaping a fundamentalist Mormon family through education. Real page turner unlike most of these misery memoirs.

Probably The Blind Assassin. Slightly ruined by all the melodrama at the end.
Closely followed by The Handmaids Tale.
Elmet was okay. Somewhat overrated.
Murphy by Samuel Becket was fucking awful.
Can't remember what else I've read.
