I don't know what the hell is being posted in this thread, but it's not flan. THIS, is flan, what you guys are posting escaped from an eco-containment unit or something, or what was left after getting hit by a proton pack. I have to go to a birthday breakfast next week, and the Market District by my hpuse sells flan like I posted. I may take one, this thread inspired me. Flanduckingtastic! 😂

That's just custard. Flan has fruit on top and a crust. Fight me. Look, I know you've been lied to your whole life but just because somebody names something flan doesn't make it flan. Flan is a custard, yes. What you're talking about is a fruit pie. Have you ever even had a flan?! It's not a fucking pie! It's amazing to me you cam look at that crust and see pie! And that fruit is FRESH.

If it's got flour in it, it's not flan proper. Actual flan is a mix of condensed milk, eggs, and sugar topped with caramel shit. It's like pudding. Vietnamese flan with rum. Delish.

Flan is like crack cocaine. When you serve yourself a piece of good flan, self-discipline is required or you end up eating the whole fucking thing meant for 8.

I know it's not an open faced fruit pie. Or a cake. I'd hope the fruit is fresh but I imagine there are times it's not. Like when grandma dumps one on you at Thanksgiving and you feed it to the raccoons after it starts browning.

Flan, also known as crème caramel, is a delightful creamy custard dessert that’s popular in Mexico, Spain, and many Latin American countries. It’s characterized by its smooth and velvety texture, achieved by cooking the custard in a water bath. The result is a dessert that’s moist, with perfectly cooked eggs and a rich caramel topping. Essentially it's a custard with the modern form originating in France. Just look it up on Wiki. For me on google, I typed in flan and creme caramel came up lol. Both are great; that and brulee Panna cotta is fine too, which I consider to be in the "family"

Fruit on flan is sort of like pineapple on pizza. At a Thanksgiving dinner if you show up with one of them crazy flans topped with tons of fruit, you might very easily get your ass kicked right on the spot.
