San92 - agree with you on this one. All of the other examples are creme brulees, which are not flans. Thank you! Flying Monkeys shows up with the voice of reason! Except he's wrong of course. The difference between brulee and flan is brulee has a sugary crust top while flan has a soft and gooey caramel top. I've been eating flan my whole life and it looks like what pippen has posted here.

That's not creme brulee, you chunkhead. Flan is creme caramel. The caramel is what makes a flan a flan. In your bastardised version of culinary culture yes but, let's face it, you lot eat cheese from a can so what you know about gastronomics could be written on the back of a Cheeze-whizz can. Don't knock Cheese Wizz, it's the best way to make a Philly Cheesesteak:

Well, we might have a tie at best. The image she ripped it from, is this website here and it's described as fruit flan but flan according to the rest of the world is custard: www.thepeppermillinc.com/recipes/fruit-flan/

Ugh...that could be something out of The Real Ghostbusters. Who eats that? I'm going to assume the "custard" isn't sweet then? Is it like a giant clump of what you'd find in lasagna or something? I guess you'd put it on crackers? At this point it isn't desert anymore. I'm reading a book and they mentioned bread pudding. I haven't had bread pudding in years and now I really want some. There used to be a Hoss's Steak House near me that had the BEST bread pudding. They shut it down some years ago. But I texted my bestie today about taking a road trip Wed. to the next closest Hoss's for bread pudding. It will be closer than West Virginia where we drive to for pie. Desert is always a good excuse for a road trip for the helluvit.

The site describes it thusly "This light and airy cake is the perfect ending to a full meal."

As I said to Bart, you lot each cheese from a can so you know fuck all about it, as evidenced by you calling any sparkling wine 'Champagne'. You also don't know the difference between a turtle and a tortoise so that rules out taxonomy as well.

san926f, Flying Monkeys: Good family friends of mine are from the DR, they’re Dominican. They became my parents’ neighbors when I was in junior high and the wife always brought her homemade flan when they came over for dinner. It looked like this flan emoji->🍮 The internet says flan is the same as Creme Caramel.
