Welsh football's The New Saints have equalled their own 27-game world record for the number of consecutive games won across all competitions. The Cymru Premier leaders eased to a comfortable 3-0 win over Newtown. Saints took the world record off Ajax in December, 2016 and hope to set a new mark at Bala Town on Friday. Against Newtown, Ben Clark struck before Declan McManus scored the first of his brace from the penalty spot to ensure the record-equalling home win. The visitors arrived under the guidance of new manager Scott Ruscoe. Saints' current winning run includes last weekend's 1-0 win at Falkirk to reach the Scottish Challenge Cup final. Third-placed Bala stand in the way of visitors Saints setting a new world record when the two sides meet on Friday, 9 February (19:45). www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68189327
