I didn't even know that was taking place. I was surprised to see those two countries in the final - where were Japan and South Korea? It turns out Japan was eliminated by Iran in the quarterfinals, and South Korea by Qatar in the semis.
It was Qatar's second consecutive win.
And on related news, the African Cup final is today, between hosts Ivory Coast and Nigeria.

Weeping and gnashing of teeth in Australia which I don't quite understand. We got knocked out in the quarters by a good South Korean team.
Also a lot of bleating about the Matildas after a couple of losses (one of them quite sizable) to Canada near the end of last year. I think that's due to most Australians being "Matildas are the best," every Olympics and World Cup and not following international women's football any of the rest of the time. Canada is ranked ahead of Australia and Australia's 4-0 win in the WWC was a surprise. Whilst 5-0 is a pretty bad loss, losing twice to Canada really shouldn't shock anybody.

You'd think South Korea with Son and Japan with Endo could do so much better in this comp. It seems the Middle East countries play out of their skins for this tournament, others dont take it seriously. Had to laugh at all the football fans in the stands with their thobes
