And to our companion animals who give us so much affection and comfort throughout the year! Especially today, for me, since last year on Valentine's Day, a little goat was born, who got sick, and I adopted him, got him the meds he needed and bottle-fed him for many weeks until he could start eating grown-up goat food. Today is his first birthday, and he is happy and healthy and all excited about spring! He's been leaping and hopping and climbing on his straw bale 'igloo' and eating like a pig! He has a forever home with me, along with my other two goats, who are my organic weed eaters. My dogs and cats are all rescue animals, too!

I just welled up a little bit there, it's so nice!

I volunteer with a cat rescue group, too - my specialty is bottle-feeding baby kittens that are taken from their mamas and discarded by humans that won't make the effort to spay and neuter their cats. I can't save them all, but the ones I take in, I've made a difference to them. They go on to find a loving forever home, once they are old enough to be spayed or neutered and have all their shots. Adopters are screened to ensure they are good pet owners. The group I am with has, in the last 24 years, adopted out over 8,000 cats, and it's all volunteer, no paid staff. It's a labor of love.
