I actually saw Bill Bailey perform live several times, all good shows, appreciated his musical abilities. So I appreciate this honesty about Bryan Adams (I was like this with Robert Palmer for years, then I heard his 1970s work), who was writing songs with Prism in the late 1970s (and I too like 'Do It For You') ...
"The song I secretly like but tell everyone I hate ...
... I used to roundly mock (Everything I Do) I Do It for You by Bryan Adams and wrote a parody called Hats Off to the Zebras, which was a sort of racial harmony song. But I changed my mind when I saw Bryan in concert.
He’s a great showman, a great musician, has a great rapport with the audience and has a really good voice. I don’t know why I was so mean."

It's powerful hearing a U K national treasure in praise of a Canadian songwriter who's immensely popular with music fans yet remains underappreciated by music critics. Things like this can shift the dial.
