The AARP firmly believes that people over 55 (the eligible age for joining) only want to see movies by and about older people. When describing the winning films they often supply ages for actors and directors and, it looks to me, that they go out of their way to award those “senior citizen” films, directors, and actors.
Best Picture: Killers Of The Flower Moon. Martin Scorsese 80, Leonardo DiCaprio 49, Lilly Gladstone 37 – how did that 37-year-old youngster get in there?
Best Director: Christopher Nolan, 53, for Oppenheimer. With Cillian Murphy 47
Best Actor: Coleman Domingo, 54, for Rustin. Rustin was 51 when he organized the March on Washington.
Best Supporting Actor: Robert De Niro, 80, for Killers Of The Flower Moon.
Best Actress: Annette Bening, 65, for Nyad
Best Supporting Actress: Jodie Foster, 61, for Nyad
Best Screen Writer: Noah Bambach, 54, (with Greta Gerwig, 40) for Barbie
Best Time Capsule: Maestro
Best Ensemble: The Color Purple. Taraj P. Henson, 53
Best Intergenerational Film: The Holdovers. Paul Giamatti, 56. By screenwriter David Hemingson, 59.
