When was there something on the line
Bonnies imploding. They had the bottom feeders in the A10 the last two games and choked them away. They weren't going to make the NCAA unless they won the A10 tournament anyway

I HATE North Carolina. I loved the Tar Heel collapse last year.
Somewhat illogical. When I was growing up in the 70's, the only real sport between the Super Bowl and baseball was college basketball. You only got 3-4 games on the weekend and it was the same thin cast of characters. UCLA, Kentucky, Indiana, Kansas and UNC. If Carolina was the game, you got to watch UNC run the "four corners" and just pass for the 2nd half (no shot clock). I grew to hate Phil Ford, Mike O'Koren, Al Wood. Then I grew to hate James Worthy, Sam Perkins, Michael Jordan. on and on. No shot clock now but I still don't like Powder Blue.
And my brother played HS BB with Christian Laettner. So I liked seeing him do well

I go to the privilege kids’ university. Laettner was no more privileged than my brother. Yeah, they went to big money schools, both HS and college (for Laettner). But his family was not rich. Like my parents they have to bust a gut to send them to Nichols, a big HS basketball school.
He was a cocky shit though. Eddie Haskell type, polite to the grownups, cocky to others

My 18-0 senior season at Archbishop Walsh was ruined by a sophomore kid from Nichols named Laettner.

My 18-0 senior season at Archbishop Walsh was ruined by a sophomore kid from Nichols named Laettner. You would have played a game against my brother. He was a senior when Laettner was a sophomore. But my brother was injured and missed the playoffs. He was an incredible long range shooter. His ability there could have made him a 3-4 star recruit. But, when he was 10 month old, my aunt was babysitting. She carried up up the stairs lost her balance and both came down. His back and hip were fucked. He was painfully slow, to slow to play CBB. Canisius and UB offered him a walk-on but he wasn't going to bust his ass, cripple his school work to average one minute a game for shit teams

Wow! Small world! That game was actually played at Pioneer High School because the Monsignor Martin Association insisted on a neutral floor.

Laettner might recognize my brother's name but he sure as shit wouldn't recognize him. Not after two NCAA's and the Dream Team. He was okay, had dinner at the house once. A definite Eddie Haskell vibe. Our families meshed like most families do of players on HS teams. His older brother was a dickbag
