I bumped into this well-done video on YT showcasing the crazy mixed-up life and career (and demise) of actress Veronica Lake. It's not only informative, but chock-full of some great still photos - many of which are pure art. Even if you're not a VL fan (and, NGL, I'm not, really) enjoy:

Well, that stinks. Did not know she was only 50 when she died.

I knew she was a schizophrenic but that’s about it. Will watch later. Thanks.

I'll bookmark this to watch, thanks. If I'd been a minor character in a film noir, I'd no doubt have been one of those poor saps that was a "simp" (to use the edgelord parlance) for one of her femme fatales. If I'd been sent to war, she'd have been my pin-up girl on my poster on the wall (should I have been lucky enough to have a wall to call my own).

I had a couple of framed pictures of her on my bedroom wall growing up (I framed these myself using cheapo A4 clip frames I bought in a local thrift store).

She was a brilliant woman in some regards, did a lot for children in her neighbourhood in later life, and was a pioneering aviator.
Please overlook the unsubstantiated gossip being thrown around in the video by an over the top, melodramatic narrator, such random smears are typical in today's world. If she ruffled a few feathers back then, then good for her, this is egomaniacal, testosterone-fuelled Hollywood after all, land of "man-made stars".

I think it's model Betty Hensel. The man on the right is filmmaker André De Toth.

Yes a Minor Noir icon in her movies with Alan Ladd.

I didn’t know she’d lived in Ipswich for a while.
