I saw one of those simple games where you roll the dice, and it comes up with stuff like "ground out" for six and three or "single" for six and one.
I wonder what the scoring is for base runners. Do runners advance one base or two bases on a single in that game?
I would set the ground rules to be that a runner on first just advances one base on a single, but a runner on second has enough of a jump to score on a single, and that a double scores a runner on first. That's oversimplifying, but it's an oversimplified game.
What would your rules be on that game?
Also, I always wondered if you were at bat and there were two outs, in something like the third inning, and you had one ball and two strikes on you, and a runner was on first base and he tried to steal, but was thrown out, what would your count be when you led off in the fourth inning? Would you still have the 1-2 count, or would you get to start over?
How does the "fielder's choice" work when a runner is on third base, and you hit a grounder, and you reach first base on a ground out because the shortstop decided to hold the ball and hold the runner on third, do you get credit for a hit, or is it a "non at bat" like a sacrifice?
If an outfielder catches a ball, and lets say a runner on third tries to make it home, and the outfielder relays the ball from deep right field to the shortstop, who then throws the runner out at the plate, does the outfielder also get credit for an assist?
If a pitcher throws a wild pitch, and a base runner scores on the wild pitch, and there are no more hits or advancing plays in the inning, is that an "earned run" or an "unearned run"? Is that considered an error by the pitcher, or is it considered "earned run" due to him being the pitcher?
