While it's certainly not as good as the original, but I don't think "Major League II" is as bad as people make it out to be. I'm surprised director David S. Ward didn't write this sequel and only directed it considering he wrote the original movie as well as directed it. Sure, this sequel is watered down with the PG rating, the actors have clearly aged in the six years since the first movie even though the story takes place a year after the original, and the humor isn't as strong as the original. But it does have Randy Quaid as the obnoxious fan, some new characters to enjoy like Rube and Takashi, and Bob Uecker still has some funny lines and moments as broadcaster Harry Doyle. Leonard Maltin Movie Guide Review: Major League II (1994) - 1.5 out of 4 stars
"Excruciatingly unfunny, decidedly minor-league sequel, with most of the principals returning for a second season; the key exclusion is Wesley Snipes, replaced by Epps as Willie Mays Hayes. Crammed with cheap jokes; except for Uecker's quips, there's barely a laugh in sight. What's more, it's shamelessly loaded with plugs for commercial products."

Why on earth would they rate a sequel as PG after the first one was rated R?
