When did you buy them? Do you pay to have them stored properly? I didn't buy them - they were my Dad's. I inherited about 30 bottles of really old stuff when he died in 1991. Sadly, the storage hasn't been optimal. Doesn't matter, though - I have no intention of drinking them. They're more like art to me. And memories. I prefer having them here rather than drinking them. |

I always select a wine from the same country that the restaurant's cuisine is from. Seems only reasonable. But... general favourites are southern Rhone and Burgundies. I never got into Bordeaux, for some reason, even though that's where all of my father's stuff is from. Maybe it's because I had two holidays in the 90s touring around France in my little Mini Metro visiting chateaux in the southern Rhone and Burgundy regions. 'Maybe', I say - definitely! Wonderful type of holiday. |

We would drive around the countryside in the morning, find a small town and pick up a freshly baked baguette from the boulangerie, some brie and tomatoes and go and find a field to sit in and have fresh brie and tomato sandwiches for lunch, then go off to the chateaux for a few tastings and pick up a few bottles here and there. It was wonderful. |
