I love this movie and am unapologetic about it. While it's certainly not one of the greatest comedies ever made, it's still amusing in its own absurd way. This movie was actually shot in 1990 but didn't get released until 1994 according to trivia. Some people find it amusing seeing a pushing 40-year old Martin Short trying to look and act like a 10 year old, and it's not something at all to take seriously (the filmmakers/writers surely aren't). The cast, Martin Short and Charles Grodin in particular and together, do fine with the roles and seem to be rolling along with the absurd premise (which you should if you watch it). So while "Clifford" may not be the "bestest movie in the whole wide world", it has developed a cult following over time. Leonard Maltin Movie Guide Review: Clifford (1994) - 1.5 out of 4 stars"Moronic comedy in the (unfortunate) mold of PROBLEM CHILD, with Short uninspiringly cast as a cloyingly obnoxious ten-year-old who makes life pure hell for his uncle (Grodin). Short's playing a child is a gimmick which quickly proves tiresome. Completed in 1991, this could have stayed on the shelf."

Even though Roger Ebert trashes the movie, I still find his review kind of amusing:

I remember liking the movie; but then again, I was 14 years old when I first and last saw it.

Martin Short’s film career didn’t reached the highs that it could have. He’s a very funny guy.

Even though Roger Ebert trashes the movie, I still find his review kind of amusing: So he liked it better than “North” at least.

Not something I wanna see, and I enjoyed Problem Child. And I thought North had some good moments.
