My son is 15 and before I let him into the world making his own decisions, I am making him read Ender's Game.
What 5 books would you have your 15 year old read to send them on their way into the world? I'm thinking on the next 4 now as he is almost done with Ender's Game.

First 5
To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee (I was 15 or 16 when I read it) The Lord Of The Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien A Tale Of Two Cities by Charles Dickens And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie The Hound Of The Baskervilles by Arthur Conan Doyle
Second 5
The Sound And The Fury by William Faulkner (like I first read it, with a guide like Cliff Notes always handy) My Gun Is Quick by Mickey Spillane (again, as a teenager, one of my first hard-boiled authors) The Catcher In The Rye by J.D. Salinger Animal Farm by George Orwell Lord of the Flies by William Golding
Third 5
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain Catch 22 by Joseph Heller Watership Down by Richard Adams The Little Sister by Raymond Chandler Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
Fourth 5
The Stars, Like Dust by Isaac Asimov The Three Coffins by John Dickson Carr (the greatest of the “impossible” mysteries) The Maltese Falcon by Dashiell Hammett The Adventures of Ellery Queen by Ellery Queen (brilliant short stories) Dune by Frank Herbert
Fifth Five
A Shropshire Lad, by A. E. Housman (story poems based on the Old English Ballad) The Iliad by Homer The Oedipus Trilogy by Sophocles The Caine Mutiny by Herman Wouk Team of Rivals: The Genius Of Abraham Lincoln by Doris Kearns Goodwin
