Only if Chris Rock plays Bluto who spends the movie making fun of Olive Oyl's bald head.

Explain why you object using Nazi rhetoric to something so inconsequential?

The Oyl’s are olive-toned. Anyway, why was Robin Williams made a blond when the real Popeye is nearly bald?

Doesn't look like a legit teaser. Quite right. www.10news.com/news/fact-or-fiction/fact-or-fiction-poster-shows-will-smith-playing-popeye-in-new-movie(KGTV) — An image going around social media claims to show the poster for a new movie starring Will Smith playing the iconic cartoon character Popeye. According to the accompanying post, the Warner Brothers blockbuster is due to hit theaters in June. But don't start making plans to see it, because it's fiction. The post originated from a Facebook account that describes itself as "100% satire and fake news." But that hasn't stopped people from voicing their opinions in the comments, with many expressing displeasure with Smith playing the role. A quick online search shows no evidence such a movie is in the works.

I'm having a hard time thinking of an actor that could match Robin's portrayal, white or black. And the tears and butthurt over a black Popeye would break the internet, from whinin' bitches that most likely never even watched the original cartoon, but I'm open to it. Mostly for the same reason an all-girls Ghost Busters didn't bother me. Robin's portrayal was so perfect, it's better to just do something totally different than to try and compete with it. And it's a fictional character, not a George Washington biopic. But you gotta keep Popeye's one-eye, his pipe, and that voice, man.

Still looks better than the Robin Williams movie Robin was so good though, even if the movie its self was left wanting. I'm just sorry Robin himself isn't still alive to come back and play Pappy if they did remake this. With the technology we have now, it could be a fun movie.

I was going to say that nobody can top the 1980 live-action movie. It's perfect as is. And Robin Williams did NAIL IT. Except for the laugh. I don't know why he didn't or wasn't allowed for some reason to do the laugh. And nobody else can top Shelly Duvall as Olive Oyle.

If Robin Williams was alive, I'd want him to do a sequel to his original classic. The only bad thing is that Ray Walston is no longer around to play Poopdeck Pappy, and Shelly Duvall looks nothing like she did before and wouldn't be able to play Olive Oyle. Unless they went the reality route in terms of age.
