Keep Olive Oylβs nameβ¦ The Oylβs are olive-toned. Anyway, why was Robin Williams made a blond when the real Popeye is nearly bald? I think they reached a suitable compromise on this one. Blond hair blends almost seamlessly into white skin, especially on men. Darker hair would have stood out more and provided more of a contrast and thus would have looked silly. Plus, this was young Popeye.

Will Smith isnβt going to be getting any lead roles in big budget family films anytime soon. Sure there is Bad Boys 4, but that is an R-Rated film probably made on a moderate budget. And I doubt that will be a big success.

That's the worst fake trailer I've ever seen.

Explain why you object using Nazi rhetoric to something so inconsequential?Β My way of implying that the people who insist on shoehorning "diversity" everywhere above all other considerations (which is what "ΓΌber Alles" literally means) are fanatics.

If we donβt have diversity, then men like you will go back excluding all the people who make you nervous and fearful, and disgusts you, then boom, we are back to White purity society. Oh, thatβs right, youβve no clue what real racism is like.

I don't oppose diversity, I oppose the idea that diversity is inherently beneficial and should be actively pursued in every conceivable situation. Specifically in the case of diversity CASTING, as I have explained many times, I object to it when it is forced and/or creates a blatant anachronism, like pretending that there were non-whites among medieval European nobility.

Try 1965 when the White conservatives males were knocked off their self-righteous pedestal. Anyway, why is beneficial to not have diversity? like pretending that there were non-whites among medieval European nobility. This is fucking Hollywood. But is that any worse than pretending the white medieval nobility were actually noble? They were as nasty, mean, with clay feet, just like the 1% ultra-rich are today. Popeye is cartoon. He is not human, but a drawing on a piece of paper. And is movie even being made? If not, then you need go take a nerve pill.

If they actually reboot Popeye they should cast John Cena. I was thinking Jim Carrey but he's over 60 now. Jason Momoa as Bluto, but he'd have to fatten up a bit. Amanda Seyfried as Olive Oyl?

Diversity is neither inherently good or bad. Casting people like Anne Boleyn or Even King Arthur as black is a bad form of diversity.

What I wrote is that diversity is not INHERENTLY beneficial. New York and London and Montreal are great cities that have diversity. Tokyo and Seoul are great cities with very little diversity. Recently there was a discussion here about the American FAA issuing a statement about increasing diversity so that it can better fulfill its mission. That is complete bullshit. There is no conceivable way in which increased diversity can help the FAA. If every single air-traffic controller is competent and well-trained, then it doesn't matter if they are all white heterosexual males or if they are 50% men and 50% women, 37% white, 23% black, 28% Latino, 13% Asian, 7% Arab, and the rest mixed race. Diversity has no bearing at all on the ability of the FAA to do its job.

I hope they donβt reboot it. Popeye was my least favorite cartoon character as a kid. To this day, I donβt like him.
