Wow. The Patriots' defense was unbelievable, especially the secondary. Well, the pass rush was pretty damned good, too. I was impressed that Goff didn't fold like a cheap suit.
The Rams' D played their asses off, they were just on the field too long and finally got gassed. Even though the sack and hit count on Brady was not impressive, I think the reason he didn't look crisp for most of the game was interior pressure making him uncomfortable about stepping into his throws, but ultimately it wasn't enough, and they never really dealt with Edelmann.
Even though the game lingered and there was a technical chance to pull it out, you could tell the Rams' were defeated after Goff's interception in the fourth quarter; even McVay's face showed it...Goff's sure as hell did. I think that's why Z missed the field goal attempt - psychologically it was over after the pick, and they just knew they could put together any better drives than that one.
I think McVay failed to have enough patience in the running game. Christ, it was a 3 point game most of the time! Keep working the ground game, even on 2nd and 3rd down. It's not like they weren't putting up three-and-outs with the conventional calling. Without making the defense believe they will run it, the Rams can't execute play action, which is their staple food.
