Former Post Office managing director Alan Cook said he didn't realise the Post Office itself brought prosecutions against sub-postmasters
Cook told the inquiry into the Horizon IT scandal: "I knew there were court cases, I didn't realise the Post Office, in about two-thirds of cases, had initiated the prosecution"
He said there would have been a "higher bar" if an outside body - for example the Crown Prosecution Service - brought the cases
Cook was managing director from 2006 to 2010 - hundreds of people were prosecuted while he was in charge
