I think I love this movie. I thought Alex Garland's Ex-Machina was great, but disliked Annihilation and never saw Men because the trailers looked terrible. Given that track record, and the fact that reviews were a bit split, I really didn't know how I'd feel about this movie. (Yes, I know most critics seem to like it, but the ones who don't like it REALLY don't like it.)I came away from my first viewing yesterday thinking, "Yeah, that was good." But I couldn't stop thinking about it, so I watched it again today, and I think I now place it as my second favorite movie so far this year after Dune 2. Anyone else have thoughts after seeing it? Or maybe you haven't seen it, and want to share thoughts based on what you've heard? p.s. It doesn't hurt that I've been itching for a good "second civil war" movie ever since becoming intrigued with the concept after seeing the disappointing made-for-tv movie appropriately titled "The Second Civil War" in the 90s. I was expecting a serious movie, but it ended up being a satirical comedy. Edit: Lol, both Civil War And The Second Civil War use the Statue of Liberty on their posters. Update #2: I went and read the plot synopsis of The Second Civil War. I only remembered some basic details, but I'd forgotten the particulars. Holy crap, it sounds like the plot was written by Stephen Miller. It's basically a right-wing "immigration bad" strawman.
