The most decorated of the big 3 forwards from the late 80s-early 90s. 4 times scored a hundred goals in a season, 4 time All Australian and a 4 time premiership player. Up there with Peter Sumich as one of the greatest clutch forwards I've ever seen. 1254 goals (3rd all time) at 4.7 per game.
Since he's retired he's been pretty funny on "The Bounce" with the late Spud Frawley, Simon O'Donnell, Cameron Mooney and Andrew Gaze. I guess we should point out he was pivotal off the field in Hawthorn's dominant era from 2008-2015.
So of the big 3: Ablett was the best footballer which made him the most fun to watch and he would have been a gun anywhere you played him. Lockett was the most one dimensional. Mark/ kick/ repeat, but he was the best at doing that the game has seen. Dunstall was the most successful, more fun to watch than Lockett, but more a pure forward than Ablett.
Ablett will never be elevated and Lockett was one of the first to receive the honour. Dunstall's worthy of joining him.
