They do it in Japan.
A guy married his anime girlfriend, didn't he?
Fantasy women are easier to deal with.
Isn't that what Playboy, etc, did? Fantasy women that don't talk back?

I just don't see how that is satisfying to anyone.

I see comments around saying men can't find women for relationships anymore but I just don't see how it's possible. Women apparently want the same. I suspect people can't form happy relationships because we're conditioned to see each other as adversaries and that destroys love. You can't love anyone you see that way.

Too many people can't respect that other people have the same right to decide for themselves. A fake girlfriend does everything the guy wants. No arguments. No compromise. Compromise is weakness, isn't it? Who wears the pants in the family? Pussy-whipped guys don't.

I just don't see how that is satisfying to anyone. It offers some imitation of a human pleasure that is otherwise complicated to obtain in the real world. The appeal shouldn't be any harder to understand than games allowing people to fly airplanes, fight wars or operate criminal enterprises without direct consequences or risk. It's definitely a bad thing, but in a subtle way that provides immediate gratification...like a diet of all fast-food. you won't starve to death in the short-term but your health will be ruined in the long term. I'd say the same thing here where relationship skills are concerned, you will get the dopamine hit from the illusion, but it will cost you every minute you could have used learning how to interact with real people socially and these are minutes users won't get back to invest in the skill development later. So, like most things, moderation will be the key.

You can use your hand to pleasure yourself, or make yourself a sandwich.
Why would anyone who has hands need an AI girlfriend?
