Both of these movies about nuns and demonic pregnancies were released close to each other and have been much compared to one another. I expected The First Omen to be the one I'd like more for a number of reasons: Nell Tiger Free, while not a great actress, (IMO) is better at acting than Sydney Sweeney; The First Omen had a bigger budget compared to the (my Hollywood standards) tiny budget of Immaculate; maybe it shouldn't count for much, but the fact that The First Omen was attached to a franchise gave it a leg up in my mind.
In the end, however, while neither movie was particularly good, Immaculate ended up being the one I enjoyed more. Some of the reasons: Noticably superior cinematography; the explanation behind the pregnancy was better and wasn't as nonsensical as in The First Omen; oh my God, the last few minutes of Immaculate were actually pretty killer.
